Job Description

Senior Electronics Engineer responsible for designing analog/digital hardware and embedded control systems, sustaining engineering, and production support in Carlsbad, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Extensive analog and digital circuit design and embedded hardware development.
  • Strong troubleshooting of circuits and systems, with schematic capture and PCB layout (Altium preferred).
  • Develop engineering documentation including requirements, performance specs, and safety/test procedures.
  • Support production and warranty issue resolution for current products.
  • Redesign existing products to satisfy updated requirements.
  • Identify and propose replacements for obsolete components.
  • Apply broad design, engineering, and manufacturing knowledge to field problems and propose corrective actions.
  • Prepare reports, conduct evaluations, and analyze data.
  • Follow quality system procedures; assist in developing procedures as needed.
  • Ensure product quality and address non-conformances appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide production support as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years in design and maintenance of embedded control hardware, with involvement across the product lifecycle from concept to production and obsolescence.
  • Experience with microcontrollers such as ESP32, PIC, ST, and NXP families and their development tools.
  • Proficiency with serial interfaces including RS-485, I2C, and SPI.
  • Experience with wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi, BLE, and Thread.
  • Familiarity with RF considerations including PCB layout and shielding.
  • Experience with sensors and transducers (temperature, pressure, etc.).
  • Knowledge of keypad technologies (membrane, discrete, matrices).
  • Expertise in analog-to-digital conversion.
  • Experience with displays (LED, LCD, 7-segment, alphanumeric, graphical).
  • Experience with peripheral drivers (indicators, relays, triacs, etc.).
  • Power supply and battery design experience.
  • Background in designing and manufacturing electronic assemblies for consumer products.
  • Familiarity with safety agency requirements (UL, FCC, etc.).
  • Ability to use advanced electronic test equipment.
  • Proficiency with office and engineering software applications.
  • Strong communication skills with technicians, colleagues, management, and vendors.
  • Ability to work effectively independently or in teams; strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Willingness to travel periodically as project needs dictate.
