Sr. Java AI Engineer

Responsibilities

• Guide effective use of agentic IDEs for complex, multi-module or cross-service changes
• Establish review practices and quality checks for AI generated code
• Mentor team members on balancing autonomy, correctness, and maintainability in AI assisted development
• Design system architectures that support AI augmented and agentic development workflows
• Define guardrails, standards, and governance for the use of autonomous coding agents
• Evaluate the impact of agentic IDEs on SDLC, CI/CD pipelines, security posture, and technical debt

Requirements

• Java – 12+ years of recent development
• 5+ years of recent Spring 4 & 5 including Spring Boot 2, Spring Data, Spring Cloud, Spring Integration and Spring REST API development
• Angular – 3+ years in an event driven asynchronous architecture with Kafka or similar message broker integration; able to explain relevant design patterns
• GCP experience
• Postgres SQL experience
• Comfortable discussing pros and cons of various middle tier architecture design patterns
• Experience developing modern solutions for high transaction volume performance
• Ability to present value and implement design pattern types for modern software development
• Experience with Agile Scrum and Kanban and Jira
• IntelliJ IDE experience preferred; debugging, mocking and proper unit testing across enterprise layers
• Strong experience with modern testing frameworks including Spring unit and integration testing, JUnit5, Hamcrest
• Enterprise experience with Git, Gradle and other build automation tools
• Extensive experience designing and building within a modern Micro Service Architecture
• Spanner experience a plus; NoSQL and Cassandra experience a plus
• L4–L7 (Tech Lead Architect Principal) proven experience architecting and delivering systems using agentic IDEs
• Define architectural intent that agents can follow and break features into agent executable tasks
• Govern AI autonomy with guardrails, permissions, and reviews; integrate agentic workflows into CI/CD
• Experience supervising AI agents across multi service systems, legacy modernization, and large codebases or monorepos
• Security implications of autonomous code execution, compliance, auditability, and traceability in AI assisted SDLC
