Job Description
The Sr. Project Engineer role at JMA Civil, Inc. supports transportation and rail infrastructure design across California. This position features small, collaborative teams with hybrid remote options and opportunities toward professional licensure.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver high-profile transportation and rail projects across California.
- Develop hands-on experience with transportation alignments and profiles.
- Engage in grading and drainage design tasks.
- Work with storm drain, sewer, water, and dry utility systems.
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses.
- Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
- Coordinate utilities and collaborate with agencies.
- Contribute to PA&ED and PS&E package development.
- Participate in project delivery from planning through construction, including occasional field visits.
- Operate in Civil 3D and/or OpenRoads while building skills for career advancement.
Requirements
- EIT certification, with progress toward PE licensure.
- 2+ years of experience in civil design or project support, preferably in transportation or site development.
- Proficiency with Bentley OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving abilities.
- Curiosity, initiative, and a drive to grow technical expertise.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

What You’ll Do & Learn
In this role, you will contribute to the design and delivery of major transportation and rail infrastructure projects. You will gain practical experience with transportation alignments, grading and drainage design, utility systems, hydrology and hydraulics, and the preparation of construction documents and technical reports. You will engage in utility coordination and agency collaboration, and assist with PA&ED and PS&E package development. Project work spans planning through construction, with occasional site visits, and you will use Civil 3D and/or OpenRoads to build the technical foundation for career advancement.
