Sr. QA Engineer (HVAC/Pump/Fluid)
Job Description
This onsite role in Orange, CA targets a Senior QA Engineer specialized in HVAC, pump, and fluid electro-mechanical systems. The successful candidate will collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software teams to elevate design quality, verification and validation, and provide early design influence. The position offers a yearly salary of USD 130,000 to 150,000 and requires a bachelor’s degree along with at least 10 years of QA experience.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering teams to weave quality into every stage of product development across mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software domains
- Conduct engineering analyses such as fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and load calculations to verify performance targets like flow rate and vacuum levels
- Design and test prototypes to validate real-world performance early in the development cycle
- Develop product specifications and assess process capability (Cpk, SPC) to ensure consistent, scalable quality
- Plan and execute comprehensive test plans to validate performance, usability, and safety requirements
- Create test environments that simulate real-world operating conditions
- Troubleshoot and resolve design issues through structured testing and root cause analysis
- Ensure full traceability from requirements through validation, including DFMEA integration
- Work cross-functionally with design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to achieve high-quality outcomes
- Provide meaningful input during design reviews to shape the final product
- Support manufacturing ramp and address issues observed in production or the field
- Ensure compliance with global regulatory and safety standards such as EPA, IECEx, and ATEX
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred
- 10+ years of progressive Quality Engineering experience in a product-based environment spanning hardware, firmware, and software
- Proven experience developing test environments, test procedures, verification plans, and conducting failure analysis
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, particularly in design and development
- Hands-on experience with verification and validation of electro-mechanical products
- Proficiency with CAD and simulation tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalents
- Experience collaborating with overseas ODM/OEM partners
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills
- Strong communication abilities with the capacity to influence cross-functional teams
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver on tight timelines
