Sr. Software Engineer (Forward Deployed Engineer)

Based in Overland Park, Kansas, this onsite role as a Senior Software Engineer (Forward Deployed Engineer) focuses on data and AI development to deliver impactful software solutions. The position emphasizes building scalable, reliable systems that enhance teammate efficiency and the end-user experience.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with WellSky teammates to identify opportunities where AI can drive process improvements and efficiency gains.
• Guide the design and architecture of major systems and services, ensuring solutions are scalable, dependable, and aligned with business goals.
• Work with business leaders and teammates to define and prioritize technical requirements that support key objectives.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to maintain solution quality and reliability, serving as a subject-matter expert to resolve complex issues in development and production.
• Contribute to solution reviews, offer constructive feedback on designs and implementations, and mentor engineers to elevate skills and productivity.
• Drive innovation by evaluating and adopting new technologies, methodologies, and AI capabilities to enhance team efficiency, software performance, and development processes.
• Ensure solutions meet functional and performance requirements, advocate for high-quality software, and implement rigorous testing, including automated unit and integration tests.
• Design and implement data pipelines that centralize operational data, enabling teams to access information for informed decision-making.
• Promote AI awareness within WellSky by sharing knowledge and providing training on AI solutions and practices.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• At least four to six years of relevant work experience.
• Proven ability to collaborate with business stakeholders to understand processes and develop tailored data and AI solutions.
• Capacity to learn and implement new technologies for enterprise-scale deployments.
• Experience building data pipelines using Python and other data ingestion tools.
