Job Description

The Staff Engineer role at Johnson Controls is an onsite position in York, PA, focused on leading multiple AHU-related initiatives spanning product development, R&D, analysis, engineering data management, seismic compliance, and laboratory testing.

Role Overview

In this capacity, you act as a working engineer and project leader, combining technical execution with project management and data analysis responsibilities. You will support AHU Business objectives while maintaining engineering deliverables across product development and compliance activities, including laboratory testing of product performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple AHU-related projects covering Product Development, Technology R&D, Product Data Analysis, Engineering data management, product Seismic Compliance efforts, and laboratory testing of product performance.
  • Deliver project results and keep project schedules on track while contributing to AHU Business objectives.
  • Own technical, commercial, and schedule responsibilities for team execution and coordinate activities with other Engineering or AHU Business members.
  • Provide technical leadership and serve as a working example by challenging assumptions and proposing suggested paths forward on projects.
  • Apply product implementation knowledge, including manufacturability, compliance requirements, and costing.
  • Collaborate across teams and with individuals to share knowledge and access required resources.
  • Execute multiple concurrent projects by setting priorities, guiding engineering work, and identifying challenges early.
  • Communicate project status and estimated work content to support consistency and predictability.
  • Use strong decision-making and critical-thinking skills to address technical and project issues.
  • Follow the Company’s Business Ethics Standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field of study (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in AHU design or a related field.
  • Strong time management skills with a desire to learn and expand the existing knowledge base.
  • Travel: approximately 10%. Some international travel may be required.

Compensation

Salary range: USD 100,000 to 145,000 per year.

Salary will be determined based on education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
