Structural Engineer

LB ENGINEERING is looking for a Structural Engineer to join its team in West Palm Beach, Florida, supporting projects across Palm Beach County and the surrounding South Florida market. This hybrid structure balances design and engineering work from home with local field inspections, with deliverables completed for review and sign and seal needs.

The role is open to engineers who already hold an active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Florida. Work will focus on a range of residential, institutional, commercial, and high-rise structural projects, with opportunities to lead tasks independently depending on experience.

Role

• Provide structural design, analysis, and deliverables for a wide range of project types, including single-family residential, multifamily, high-rise buildings, schools, hospitals, jails, apartment buildings, and other commercial and institutional projects
• Act as Engineer of Record as experience allows, including signing and sealing deliverables scaled to the level of responsibility
• Lead projects independently or with senior support based on experience
• Ensure work aligns with the Florida Building Code and applicable structural design standards

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze structures across diverse project types
• Conduct structural inspections and perform site visits throughout Palm Beach County and surrounding South Florida areas
• Prepare field reports, structural calculations, drawings, and construction documents
• Coordinate with architects, contractors, owners, and internal teams
• Participate in client, architect, and contractor calls while representing the firm professionally
• Complete quality control and follow internal design standards
• Maintain awareness of scope, schedules, and budgets
• For experienced candidates: provide redlines and technical direction and mentor drafters, EITs, and junior engineers

Requirements

• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Florida (required)
• Structural engineering experience
• Located in or near West Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter, Lake Worth Beach, Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, Boca Raton, or surrounding South Florida areas
• Ability and willingness to travel locally for field inspections and site visits
• Reliable transportation for field work
• Reliable home-office workspace
• Clear communication with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams
• Organized, detail-oriented, and accountable
• Self-starter capable of managing responsibilities with limited oversight
• US candidates only: applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and currently reside in the US; sponsorship is not available

Work Location and Schedule

• 100% remote with field work
• No required daily company office location
• Hybrid setup combining work from home with in-person field inspections
• Focused primarily on West Palm Beach, Palm Beach County, and surrounding South Florida markets

Compensation and Benefits

• Pay: $90,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year

Position Overview

LB ENGINEERING is seeking a Structural Engineer who is currently licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida. Candidates who are not currently licensed as a PE in Florida will not be considered. Newly licensed PEs may be considered through senior-level structural engineers, depending on experience and fit.
