This role focuses on operational surveillance and deposition management for filtered tailings dry stack TSFs and the associated water management infrastructure, with the goal of maintaining facility stability and meeting environmental and internal technical standards.

Role Summary

The Filtered Tailings Dry Stack Storage Facility Engineer provides routine field support and technical direction across dry stack tailings operations, including instrumentation monitoring, geotechnical surveillance, and water balance tracking. The position ensures compliance with GISTM, NDEP, MSHA, and AGA internal technical standards, including adherence to Trigger Action Response Plans (TARPs) and applicable regulatory permits.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine Dry Stack Tailings Facility safety inspections and field surveillance.
  • Manage and interpret geotechnical instrumentation networks, including piezometers, inclinometers, survey prisms, and radar.
  • Coordinate daily Stacking Plan strategies such as spigotting sequences, beach formation, and site water balance tracking in partnership with Process Operations and Environmental teams.
  • Implement and maintain site-level Tailings Management System (TMS) routines.
  • Ensure operational activities comply with NDEP and GISTM requirements, including TARPs and regulatory permits.
  • Provide owner’s engineering oversight during TSF dam raises, earthworks, and liner installations.
  • Verify third-party Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) documentation aligns with approved engineering designs.
