Job Overview

This position targets an early to mid career engineer who wants to balance technical design with construction support. The Geostructural Project Engineer will contribute to geostructural design and design-build projects through engineering calculations, CAD production, field observation, and report preparation, combining office-based analysis with hands-on field experience.

Responsibilities

Support senior engineers and project managers with geotechnical and structural design tasks for earth retention and foundation projects, including designs for slopes, drainage, utilities, grading, and erosion control.
Prepare basic engineering calculations, quantity take-offs, sketches, figures, and supporting documentation for design memoranda, reports, proposals, and construction documents.
Assist with development of project plans, details, and construction drawings using AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D.
Assist with preparation of permit submittals, construction document packages, and technical exhibits.
Coordinate with engineering, construction, and sales teams to interpret project requirements, design assumptions, codes, standards, and client specifications.
Observe geostructural related construction activities and document site conditions, contractor activities, and conformance with project documents, including load testing on various structural elements.
Prepare clear, accurate, and timely field reports, observation logs, and testing summaries.
Support engineers during construction by responding to field questions, reviewing drawings, preparing sketches, and documenting changed conditions.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
Engineer-in-Training certification or intent to pursue EIT certification.
2–8 years of experience in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, geostructural engineering, construction materials testing, construction observation, drafting, or related work.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD; Civil 3D experience preferred.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, boring logs, laboratory data, and technical documents.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Willingness to perform field work and travel to project sites as needed, including occasional overnight travel; field assignments may require up to 50% of time in the field.
