Tool/Product Design Engineer
Job Description
Astech Engineered Products, Inc. is seeking a Tool/Product Design Engineer to manage tooling and product design activities tied to the launch of a new product line for major aerospace commercial aircraft structural assembly. Working under minimal direction, you will plan, coordinate, and oversee multiple high-impact tooling projects while aligning engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers to program objectives.
This role is onsite in Santa Ana, CA and offers a salary range of USD 130,000 - 150,000 per year. The position requires at least 5 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Plan, conduct, and orchestrate multiple high-impact tooling projects that may run concurrently, including the highest-complexity initiatives.
- Coordinate cross-functional work with Engineers, Technicians, Tool and Die Makers, Suppliers, and other support personnel.
- Collaborate with Product Line Management, Accounting, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Production Design, and Suppliers/Customers as projects progress.
- Manage tooling program budgets and schedules to meet business and program objectives.
- Address miscellaneous tooling process issues related to production downtime, lost or low efficiency, ergonomics, safety, or quality deviations; set priorities for tool repairs as needed.
- Provide leadership related to cost, quality, process, schedule, and people to support the company’s culture and business objectives.
- Support a safe workplace and environmental protection by establishing and following company policy and applicable government regulations.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Requires a 4-year degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree is desirable.
- Requires 5-10 years of directly related experience in a manufacturing environment, including demonstrated ability to make sound decisions during emergency situations.
- Must have a strong demonstrated mechanical, chemical, and machinery background.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Direct compliance with applicable laws and regulations and product quality standards issued by OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
