Traffic Engineer II
Job Description
HNTB Corporation is seeking a Traffic Engineer II to support planning, analysis, and design efforts for transportation improvements. This onsite role in Houston supports projects throughout the Houston region and beyond, with collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete assigned work within established schedules and the provided number of hours.
- Prepare and/or modify selected portions of project reports, plans, designs, and calculations.
- Develop project quantities and assist in the preparation of cost estimates.
- Support engineering teams with organization and administrative support of design files.
- Independently carry out tasks that may include research, data collection, field investigations, and development and design of projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 2 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree in Engineering with 1 year of relevant experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in traffic and transportation engineering.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with project managers and technical leads.
- Understanding of traffic engineering concepts, including signal design, warrant analysis, operational analysis, and safety studies.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and traffic engineering software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, VISSIM, Synchro, HCS, or IHSDM.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Engineering or Planning.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
- Proficiency with traffic analysis software (VISSIM, Synchro) and design software (OpenRoads, MicroStation).
