Transmission Engineer, Senior (Transmission Planning)

The Senior Transmission Planning Engineer will support Pedernales Electric Cooperative by analyzing the transmission system and guiding the design and construction of complex electrical power system solutions aligned with the Cooperative’s strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Prepare technical specifications and analyze technical data to define limits and variables for product, process, and materials specifications
• Study technical drawings, transmission line specifications, and topographical maps to ensure installation and operation meet standards and customer requirements
• Use computer assisted engineering and design software and related equipment to complete engineering tasks and analysis
• Coordinate with engineers, customers, and others to review current and potential engineering projects and products
• Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and project management activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements
• Design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic applications
• Perform detailed calculations to establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications
• Investigate customer or public complaints, determine the scope of the issue, and recommend remedial actions to management
• Oversee project production efforts to support on-time, on-budget completion
• Design and monitor construction of large transmission projects to confirm adherence to engineering design
• Represent the Cooperative in the Public Utility Commission of Texas Certificate of Convenience and Necessity (CCN) process
• Assist with submitting potential projects to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas’ Regional Transmission Plan (RTP)
• Complete standard engineering computations and analysis, including preparation of engineering drawings, maps, and construction specifications
• Research material specifications and resolve basic material issues
• Coordinate with Cooperative management, consultants, members, developers, and government entities on assigned projects
• Provide guidance and mentoring to department engineers and respond as an engineering resource to other departments
• Serve as a department and project leader, including acting in a lead capacity when the manager is out of the office
• Perform transmission planning studies
• Maintain the security of confidential information and stay current on advances in technology
• Maintain regular, prompt attendance and perform other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field
• Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas
• Ten years of related work experience
• Valid Driver’s License

Hybrid role based in Johnson City, TX, with office work at PEC Headquarters - 201 S Ave F, Johnson City, TX 78636.

Compensation

• Pay range: $131,104.00 - $163,880.00 per year
• Minimum starting base pay: $131,104.00

• Exempt employees receive a fixed bi-weekly salary to compensate for all hours worked during each pay period

• Knowledge of power system transmission materials, including structures, foundations, insulators, anchor bolts, and related items
