UI/UX Engineer

Leidos is hiring a UI/UX engineer to design highly usable, mobile and touch-based experiences and responsive/adaptive UX across multiple platform types.

Responsibilities

• Partner with leadership and product owners to define UX strategy for multiple platform types
• Design responsive and/or adaptive UX solutions for different form factors and screen widths
• Lead the creation and execution of user experience designs, frameworks, and information architectures focused on user goals and needs
• Develop interactive prototypes using available tooling
• Collaborate closely with developers, engineers, and testers and provide guidance throughout delivery
• Manage multiple simultaneous UX research, design, and engineering processes
• Own and advocate for strong UX design practices in an engineering-heavy environment

Requirements

• US citizenship and an active Secret DoD security clearance
• BA/BS in Design, HCI, or Computer Science/Engineering with UX experience; 8+ years of experience
• 5+ years delivering UX for successful, innovative mobile products, including exposure to and hands-on experience with a variety of UX research techniques and familiarity with lean UX
• 5+ years producing UX designs and interaction prototypes using industry-standard tools (examples: Sketch, Pixate, Adobe Creative Suite)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desired Qualifications

• Design experience in a mobile, touch-based environment
• Experience with ECUs or SKLs
• Demonstrable independence and initiative, including identifying, diagnosing, and fixing problems early
• Strong design sensibilities and the ability to make a defensible case for design decisions
• Experience with pixel-perfect design, plus collaborative and organizational skills to prevent gaps
• Strong written and oral communication, including requesting clarification when needed
• Portfolio demonstrating fast decomposition of complex problems, effective UX solutioning, and high-quality designs and prototypes
• DoD 8570 approved security certification (Security +) required; will be required within 90 days after hire
