Vision Engineer

The Vision Engineer role supports pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging operations through vision systems, providing technical and regulatory compliance expertise while driving multi-site vision system and automation projects. The position delivers timely, professional, and safe service to operations in a hybrid work environment.

Overview

The Vision Engineer will deliver technical and regulatory support for vision systems used in pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging. This role leads and assists in the development, implementation, and completion of vision system and automation initiatives across multiple sites, pursuing innovative solutions to meet business needs while delivering strong customer service to operations to achieve objectives on schedule.

Responsibilities

• Assist with selecting and modifying equipment to raise plant productivity or enable manufacturing of new formulations or products.
• Collaborate across teams to ensure compliance with FDA current Good Manufacturing Practice during the design, specification, qualification, validation, maintenance, and use of equipment systems.
• Manage capital and operating expenditures by aligning with Operations and Engineering on timelines, scope, and budget, while tracking costs to keep projects within budget.
• Participate in the change management program to assess how proposed activities affect the validation status of control systems.
• Support quality initiatives through corrective and preventive actions and by introducing new technologies to resolve longstanding issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve production processes with emphasis on detection capabilities and downtime reduction.
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, operations, IT, and scheduling to implement changes and investigate issues.
• Respond to emergencies and troubleshoot issues affecting daily machine performance and efficiency.
• Design and implement new features and technologies to enhance machine operability, efficiency, safety, quality, and data tracking.
• Develop strategic plans to upgrade aging or obsolete systems.
• Review technical specifications of new equipment to ensure automation hardware and software align with established standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
• Minimum of three years of hands-on experience with vision systems and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and the ability to read drawings, flowcharts, and schematics related to system design documentation.
• Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma principles; experience with continuous improvement methods is preferred.
• Electrical troubleshooting skills are preferred.
• Flexible schedule with standard work hours from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.
• Experience with computer system validation and change management within an FDA regulated environment.
• Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
• Strong problem-solving abilities, sound decision making, and the capacity to meet deadlines in a collaborative environment.
• Demonstrated confidence and the ability to interface with multiple departments, consultants, and contractors.
• Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting is preferred.
