Vision Systems Engineer
Job Description
Vision Systems Engineer supporting Honda's IoT Solutions Development group in ADC Raymond, OH, onsite in Dayton, OH. This contract-to-hire role focuses on developing digital technology solutions including vision inspection systems and ML analysis to improve production efficiency, quality, and safety.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement digital technology solutions, including vision inspection systems and AI/ML analysis of machine and sensor data.
- Assess user needs and manufacturing challenges, translating them into product and technology opportunities.
- Contribute to IoT strategy development and roadmaps for designated areas.
- Monitor emerging IoT technologies to assess their potential for future projects.
- Support analytics workflows from proof-of-concept to deployed IoT initiatives, including ML techniques used in trials.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering-related fields (electrical, controls, systems, computer science, data science) or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2 years in manufacturing equipment controls, network design, embedded systems, machine learning, and/or data engineering with a focus on the automotive industry.
- Ability to extract and interpret machine parameter data that reflects equipment health, proper operation, and effects on product quality.
- Familiarity with manufacturing controls and logic, preferably PLCs from Mitsubishi, Rockwell, Siemens, or Omron.
- Understanding of computer vision algorithms, including segmentation, morphology, pose estimation, camera calibration, image enhancement, feature extraction, classification, 3D vision, and deep learning.
- Experience implementing vision algorithms in C++, Python, HALCON, Matrox, Cognex, and/or Keyence, using traditional rule-based approaches or deep learning.
- Experience with vibration, audio, or current signature analysis.

Qualifications, Experience, & Skills
- Educational background aligned with engineering or related fields such as electrical, controls, systems, computer science, or data science, or equivalent experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in manufacturing equipment controls, network design, embedded systems, machine learning, or data engineering with an automotive focus.
- Ability to interpret machine health data and understand how parameter changes impact operation and product quality.
- Knowledge of PLCs and manufacturing controls in at least one of Mitsubishi, Rockwell, Siemens, or Omron platforms.
- Proficiency in computer vision concepts including segmentation, morphology, pose estimation, calibration, image enhancement, feature extraction, classification, and 3D vision, with deep learning familiarity.
- Hands-on experience delivering vision solutions using C++, Python, HALCON, Matrox, Cognex, or Keyence libraries and tools.
- Experience analyzing vibration, audio, or current signatures as part of system health monitoring.
