Job Description

Senior VMware Engineer role supporting the Department of State Vanguard 2025 program, onsite in Springfield, Virginia. The position involves designing, integrating, and deploying VMware based IT solutions and virtualization/storage infrastructure across data centers.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute as a core member of the Infrastructure team, performing duties aligned with enterprise IT operations.
  • Design, integrate, and deploy VMware based IT solutions across data centers.
  • Rack and stack new data center equipment.
  • Collaborate with the Networking team to configure virtual switches and related networking components.
  • Provide operational engineering support for enterprise-scale solutions utilizing virtual server hosting and Dell storage technologies.
  • Provision virtual machines and apply patches to the hosting infrastructure, encompassing software and hardware layers.
  • Update system and process documentation, user guides, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with Red Hat Linux and RHEL Satellite Server.
  • Senior-level expertise in VMware and vSphere design, integration, and deployment.
  • Knowledge or training in VMware ESXi 7.0+ deployment, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Windows engineering or administration experience, including Active Directory, GPOs, and PowerShell scripting.
  • Experience leading system integration projects as the technical lead.
  • Experience collaborating with customers to capture and document requirements.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience.

Salary

The anticipated salary range is $144,000 to $200,000 per year. This range is not a guarantee of compensation; final salary is determined by factors including experience, geographic location, and contractual requirements, and may fall above or below the stated range.
