Job Description
Senior Software Engineer position at Mastercard, onsite in O'Fallon, Missouri.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end software delivery for a component, including coding, testing, building, releasing, configuring, and documenting
- Troubleshoot and refactor existing modules to improve quality
- Evaluate and adopt new languages and architecture patterns as required
- Engage in the team's agile process and contribute to prioritization decisions
- Pull tasks from the backlog and deliver in collaboration with the scrum team, seeking guidance from experienced teammates as needed
- Automate build, deployment, and operational tasks
- Lead trade-off discussions around code, design, and process as needed
- Advance service integration with emphasis on customer journey and experience
- Lead demos and acceptance discussions with product owners
- Consider operational and engineering experience; actively work to improve experience and metrics in the ownership domain
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of end-to-end architecture and dependency graphs
- Promote technology standards and opinionated frameworks; review peers' code, tests, and automation
- Mentor junior engineers and guide newer teammates
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and reduce waste
- Share knowledge within the guild or program to promote reuse of patterns, libraries, and practices
Requirements
- Experience across multiple programming languages and frameworks, with Java required
- High energy, detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working independently under pressure
- Strong commitment to continuous learning and tackling challenging opportunities
- Excellent verbal and written communication with proven relationship-building, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Focus on timely delivery and outcomes
- Solid decision-making skills and a mindset of continuous improvement
- Solid experience with software development processes and at least one Application Lifecycle Management tool
- Track record of delivering high-quality design artifacts and documentation
- Evidence of work with artificial intelligence initiatives
- Familiarity with performance tuning and automation
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Pay Ranges
- O'Fallon, Missouri: USD 115,000 - 184,000 per year
