KBR is seeking a Semiconductor Device Engineer to support research and device development focused on Gallium Nitride and Ga2O3. This onsite role combines hands-on cleanroom fabrication, lab-based electrical characterization, advanced microscopy, and TCAD modeling to help connect device physics to measurable performance.
What you will do
- Spend active time in the cleanroom assisting with process steps, supporting test runs, and operating fabrication equipment, including photolithography, wet/dry etching, and thin-film deposition.
- Set up and execute parametric electrical testing to evaluate device behavior.
- Perform DC measurements (I-V, C-V) and RF/high-frequency measurements (S-parameters) using probe stations, parameter analyzers, and network analyzers.
- Conduct physical characterization and failure analysis using advanced microscopy tools, including Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), and optical microscopes.
- Use TCAD simulation tools (for example Sentaurus or Silvaco) to model basic device physics, predict electrical behaviors, and guide experiments.
- Compile, analyze, and present experimental data, comparing measurements against TCAD results to identify discrepancies and recommend device improvements.
- Maintain rigorous documentation of cleanroom runs, testing protocols, and safety procedures.
What you will need
- A PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Nanoengineering, or a closely related engineering field; or an MS degree in the same discipline with 3+ years of microelectronics experience beyond graduate school.
- 4+ years of hands-on cleanroom experience, which may include graduate research or internships.
- Familiarity with standard cleanroom protocols, safety standards, and basic microfabrication processing techniques.
- Experience using semiconductor parametric testing equipment, such as source measure units and lock-in amplifiers.
- Hands-on experience with DC/RF electrical characterization concepts.
- Direct experience operating optical microscopes, with exposure to SEM or AFM considered highly desirable.
- Exposure to TCAD simulation software, such as Sentaurus, Silvaco, or COMSOL.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a strong publication record.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government clearance.
