Aircraft Systems Engineer 1 - Electrical Systems

This full-time Aircraft Systems Engineer 1 (Electrical Systems) position, based onsite in Mesa, AZ, supports the design, development, and testing of new avionics installations.

Overview

This role involves assisting in the systems design, development, and testing of new avionics system installations, with a focus on electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Support the basic design assessments and analyses of avionics and flight control system installations.
• Assist in creating documentation for new avionics installations.
• Produce or interpret wiring diagrams, wiring routing schematics, installation drawings, component/part drawings, and other design data required to support Garmin STC projects.
• Coordinate with project leads, technicians, and team members to complete assigned tasks.
• Assist technicians in troubleshooting installation and wiring issues.
• Help prepare and verify documentation needed for certification.
• Support the development of ground and bench test plans and assist in creating test reports and related compliance data.
• Interface with the purchasing department and suppliers for parts specifications and manufacturing considerations.
• Research Federal Aviation Regulations and certification topics and provide input and recommendations.
• Perform basic troubleshooting using standard engineering tools and techniques.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Computer Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Familiarity with general aviation and basic avionics operation and installation.
• Basic proficiency with job-related software (Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, FaultTree+, etc.).
• Basic understanding of avionics, electrical or systems design, installation, and certification.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to work proactively under direct supervision in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Basic knowledge in one or more areas such as Electrical Systems, System Safety, HIRF/Lightning, or Aircraft Certification.
