Applications Engineer - Custom Automation & Life Sciences Manufacturing
Job Description
Applications Engineer for custom automation in life sciences manufacturing, owning quoting and concepting from RFQ through concept delivery; serves as Principal Engineer on sold projects and collaborates with BD and PM on bespoke automation for life sciences/MedTech.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical RFQ audits and concept development for tailored automated equipment
- Prepare detailed proposals, cost worksheets, process block diagrams, and sequencing/timing charts
- Coordinate concept review sessions with internal stakeholders and external partners
- Act as the Principal Engineer on won projects, bridging Applications and Design teams
- Partner with Business Development and Project Management to deliver viable automation solutions
- Develop highly complex, custom automation systems for life sciences and MedTech sectors
Requirements
- MS or BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, with a Mechanical Engineering background strongly preferred
- Minimum of three years designing custom machinery, specialized automation, or tool and die operations
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or an equivalent CAD system
- Hands-on experience with Fanuc Roboguide required; Rockwell Emulate 3D experience is a plus
- Solid understanding of electro-mechanical systems, manufacturing methods, and assembly processes
- Ability to convert complex technical concepts into clear written proposals and client-ready presentations
