Aquatic Product Design Engineer II

Iwaki America, Inc. is seeking a Product Design Engineer II for Iwaki Aquatic to help architect, design, develop, test, and launch new aquatic products. This onsite role in Holliston, MA supports an engineering culture focused on configurable, manufacturable solutions delivered in a fast-paced, low-volume, high-mix environment where you can see your designs move from concept to customer applications.

In this position, you will drive continuous improvement across existing products while collaborating with teams across Marketing, Manufacturing, Sales, and Service to translate unique customer needs into engineered outcomes. You will also contribute to R&D initiatives, prototypes, feasibility studies, and product testing to support performance and reliability goals.

Responsibilities

• Engineer configurable product architectures to solve complex customer challenges while maintaining manufacturing efficiency in agile, low-volume, high-mix production
• Create modular design solutions and standardized component libraries that enable rapid customization for product variants
• Produce comprehensive engineering documentation, including theory of operation, functional specifications, system architecture, P&ID, process flow diagrams, and component specifications
• Manage concept-to-production design solutions using SolidWorks and PDM, balancing innovation with manufacturing practicality
• Follow established ISO protocols and engineering change management processes for product development
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Manufacturing, Sales, and Service to align customer requirements with engineering solutions
• Drive continuous improvement of existing products by implementing enhancements based on feedback from manufacturing, sales, and service
• Use prototyping tools including 3D printing and CNC machining to accelerate product development cycles
• Support R&D through design, prototyping, and feasibility studies for emerging products and technologies
• Design and conduct comprehensive product testing and validation to ensure performance and reliability
• Communicate technical solutions and project progress clearly across organizational levels
• Manage concurrent projects with varying timelines and requirements, identifying opportunities for process improvement

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 3–5 years of product design experience, ideally with configurable or modular design exposure
• Proficiency with SolidWorks and PDM
• Creative systems thinking with strong attention to detail and the ability to think abstractly about scalable design problems
• Collaborative team player comfortable with variety and taking initiative through completion
• Understanding of product development processes with experience optimizing for cost, reliability, and manufacturability in low-volume, high-mix environments
• Experience developing electromechanical solutions using simulation, analysis, prototyping, and testing within technical and business constraints
• Systems engineering experience including specification writing, analysis, design, and documentation for configurable products in regulated environments, including managing engineering changes and maintaining design control across the product lifecycle

Compensation: USD 85,000 - 95,000 per year.
