Job Description

AnySignal is looking for an Associate Embedded Software Engineer to join its Space Software team in Los Angeles, supporting mission-critical embedded C++ development for advanced radio systems used in space and defense applications. In this onsite role, you will help build and validate the embedded software stack across Linux-based systems, FPGA interfaces, networking, and fault-tolerant architecture.

You will collaborate with engineers across software, hardware, DSP, and FPGA to define requirements and interfaces, then contribute hands-on work that spans bring-up, debugging, and integration into customer flight systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop mission-critical embedded C++ applications running on Linux-based embedded systems.
  • Partner with software, hardware, DSP, and FPGA engineers to define system requirements, interfaces, and architecture.
  • Participate in hardware bring-up, including schematic reviews and hands-on debugging of embedded radio platforms.
  • Create automated hardware-in-the-loop tests to validate performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across embedded hardware and software systems.
  • Work directly with customers to integrate products into flight systems, debug RF links, and support mission success.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of C++ or C.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience, or equivalent internship, coursework, or hands-on project experience, demonstrating embedded systems understanding.
  • Experience developing software on Linux platforms or microcontrollers.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and take ownership of technical challenges.
  • Strong interest in understanding the hardware your software interfaces with.

Desired Skills

  • Network programming experience with TCP/IP, UDP, and socket programming.
  • Understanding of digital signal processing, modem design, and RF communications concepts.
  • Experience with board bring-up, schematic review, and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on lab experience testing and debugging RF hardware using spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and RF test equipment.
  • Experience developing for Xilinx MPSoC-based devices.
  • Linux platform development experience, including Buildroot, U-Boot, and Xilinx FSBL creation.
  • Experience writing RTL for FPGAs or software that interacts with FPGA fabric.
  • Experience with Python, build systems (CMake, Make, Bazel), and CI pipeline development using GitLab.
  • Hardware-in-the-loop testing experience.
  • Experience on robotics, aerospace, communications, or other hardware-focused engineering projects.
