Job Description

The Business Intelligence Data Engineer will design, build, and sustain the organization’s data warehouse and ETL/ELT pipelines, assess BI and DW tools, and support reporting and visualization across departments. This onsite role is based in Frisco, TX.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to interpret source data systems, resolve data issues, and validate requirements with the data analyst; conduct interviews with users and developers.
  • Map source data to data warehouse tables and schemas.
  • Create, test, and validate data flows; design ETL/ELT processes aligned with business needs and document design specifications.
  • Define metadata and business rules governing ETL processes.
  • Adapt ETL pipelines to changes in source systems and evolving user requirements.
  • Partner with developers and business users to gather data, execute ETL programs, implement data warehouse activities, and prepare related reports.
  • Provide ongoing support and documentation for ETL processes.
  • Build cross-functional partnerships across application, business, and infrastructure teams.
  • Pursue continuous improvements in software delivery practices and standards.
  • Champion corporate standards and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science or Computer Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience as a BI Data Engineer or in related roles (e.g., Software Engineer, BI Engineer, Data Scientist) with a track record of extracting value from diverse systems.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL.
  • Expertise with ETL tools such as Matillion, Informatica, SSIS, ODI, and experience with data manipulation languages such as Python, SAS, or R.
  • Creative problem solving and ability to design innovative data solutions, systems, and processes.
  • Interest in building predictive or optimization tools for structured datasets.
  • Extensive experience in Data Warehousing development, including Star Schema modeling, slowly changing dimensions, row-level security, standard DW architectures, troubleshooting, and production support.
