Responsibilities
- Lead civil engineering standards, updates, and quality control across projects
- Ensure Civil design deliverables align with Aligned design and construction standards; oversee quality control through the full design phase
- Review and update reference design standards to reflect lessons learned, code changes, and client needs
- Guide early civil design during design development by translating land constraints, campus requirements, building needs, and construction considerations into clear direction
- Support conceptual site planning, test fits, and evaluations for speculative real estate acquisitions; collaborate with Land Enablement efforts
- Provide technical input for expansion, renovation, and upgrade projects at existing facilities
- Assist in drafting civil scopes of work, evaluate consultant proposals for technical completeness, and manage external civil consultants to deliver construction-ready outcomes
- Coordinate Civil design with architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines for seamless integration
- Validate readiness of Civil systems for service and commissioning as needed
- Troubleshoot site performance issues related to grading, drainage, utilities, and other civil systems
- Evaluate and approve deviations from standard designs based on client requirements
- Lead technical assessments of potential acquisitions and existing assets
- Evaluate Land Enablement and Site Acquisition due diligence outputs and positioning
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and sustainable civil engineering practices
- Lead or support the evaluation and implementation of innovative design and construction methodologies
- Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to align Civil solutions with evolving needs
- Communicate complex Civil concepts to diverse technical and non-technical audiences
- Lead technical training and mentorship for engineering and design staff
- Represent civil engineering in cross-functional meetings and leadership discussions
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; Professional Engineer license strongly preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience in civil design and project management, ideally in data center or infrastructure development
- Strong understanding of site development, grading, drainage, utilities, and permitting processes
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and AutoCAD
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- International experience is a plus
- Deep understanding of the data center design and construction process
- Ability to multi-task with solid time management and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications
- May travel up to 25%
