Job Description

eda consultants, inc. is seeking a Licensed Civil Engineer based in Gainesville, FL for an onsite, office-based role supporting land development projects from initial planning through delivery. In this position, you will help move civil engineering work through design, analysis, permitting coordination, and compliance with applicable standards.

This role centers on civil/site design responsibilities, with hands-on involvement in stormwater management calculations, erosion and sediment control, and review of technical documents. You will also coordinate across internal teams and with external partners, including regulatory agencies, to help ensure requirements and deadlines are met.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and preparation of civil engineering plans for land development projects, including site layout, grading, drainage, road design, and utility systems
  • Complete detailed engineering calculations for stormwater management using CAD for hydrology/hydraulics and erosion and sediment control
  • Coordinate with project managers, clients, and regulatory agencies to align project requirements with deadlines
  • Prepare and submit permitting packages to local and state agencies, ensuring compliance with Florida regulations and municipal codes
  • Review plans, reports, and technical documents for accuracy, quality, and adherence to standards
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and CAD designers
  • Manage multiple projects at once, including tracking budgets, schedules, and deliverables
  • Conduct site visits and field inspections to monitor construction progress and confirm design intent
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including surveyors, planners, and environmental consultants
  • Support client meetings, presentations, and proposal development as needed
  • Contribute to the eda’s engineering department quality standards, project budgets, and project timelines while overseeing projects beginning to end

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license (required)
  • 2-4 years of professional experience in civil/site design, with focus on site planning, grading, stormwater management systems, drainage design, road design, and soil erosion control
  • Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ICPR, and Stormwater Runoff Design
  • Strong knowledge of permitting processes and applicable regulations in Florida
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical ability, multitasking skills, and judgement
  • Demonstrated ability to follow direction and work collaboratively in a team environment

Work Schedule

  • Office based role in Gainesville, FL
  • Full-time (Monday-Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm)
  • Occasional overtime and out-of-town work as needed
