Consulting/Principal Software Engineer

RELX (LexisNexis USA) is seeking a Consulting/Principal Software Engineer to lead and develop large, multifunctional software development activities. This onsite role in Raleigh, NC focuses on building and evolving cloud-native systems, with hands-on work across microservices, document processing, and customer-facing requirement gathering.

You will serve as a senior technical authority, partnering with internal teams and external technology resources while contributing to product design input and solving complex engineering problems end to end.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and lead large multifunctional software development activities.
• Address complex technical challenges through both deep software expertise and complex code development.
• Act as a primary technical point of contact for external technology resources.
• Provide design input across a software product and serve as a recognized “go to” resource for coding and technical issues.
• Work directly with customers and end users to gather requirements and interface with other technical personnel to finalize those requirements.
• Write and review portions of detailed specifications for system components of moderate complexity.
• Resolve complex technical issues, complete complex bug fixes, and design and work with complex data models.
• Mentor lead software developers on development methodologies and optimization techniques.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 7 years of experience in the job offered or related occupations.
• 7 years of experience including building cloud-native microservices using AWS, Java, and Spring Boot to process and analyze litigation and transactional documents, including integrating with machine-learning algorithms that extract structured metadata from documents for law firms.
• 7 years of experience designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems with microservices architecture, robust API design, and system-level optimizations to process and index millions of documents efficiently.
• Experience utilizing cloud-native technologies.
• Reports to the RELX Inc. d/b/a LexisNexis USA office in Raleigh, NC, with the ability to telecommute from any location within the U.S. Experience can be concurrent.

Compensation

U.S. National Base Pay Range: $115,400 - $192,300 per year. Geographic differentials may apply in some locations.

Salary range for REQ # R118852: $169,736.16 to $177,000.00/year + standard company benefits.
