Job Description
South Texas Radiology Group, P.A. is hiring a Data Engineer to build and maintain the data foundation that helps business teams and analysts turn information into action. This onsite role in San Antonio, TX focuses on creating reliable data pipelines to a centralized data warehouse, ensuring data integrity, and supporting reporting and analytics that drive physician productivity and other key measures.
What you’ll do
- Follow STRG Policies and Procedures at all times.
- Gather information for moderately complex processes, analyze data and trends, and identify root causes.
- Design, create, and maintain infrastructure for a centralized data store in the form of a data warehouse, including selecting platform(s) for each component.
- Import data from multiple agency EHRs and web-based sources using ELT/ETL best practices.
- Collaborate with internal managers and external partners to establish data pipelines for reporting and other business functions while ensuring data integrity across integrated information systems.
- Work with the President on reporting needs for physician productivity and measurables, and with the Vice President on physician scheduling and reporting needs as needed.
- Support enterprise report creation using warehouse data, including building and maintaining a data dictionary.
- Maintain a data normalization strategy for new incoming data and create and maintain a semantic layer for report KPIs and business metrics.
- Assist with data mining and analytics to support decision-making and corporate strategy, including developing and maintaining a data management strategy covering data acquisition and archive recovery.
- Support business teams as they interact with the data warehouse and/or data sources.
- Maintain CI/CD best practices for accurate and accessible business data and support development transparency using Agile project management principles.
- Review and audit reports, data sources, and data streams for accuracy and completeness.
- Manage and deploy BI tools for use by company teams.
- Assist with alerting and educating staff on EHR changes, and help with system administrative set-up as requested.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient protected health information in accordance with STRG procedures and HIPAA Privacy, Security, HITECH, and Transactions and Code Sets regulations.
- Perform other duties as required.
What you bring
- Minimum 4 years of experience in end-to-end analysis and/or operations, including requirement gathering and documentation, operational planning and forecasting, data analytics or current/future state analysis, in direct support of business planning initiatives.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask multiple priorities.
- Advanced Excel knowledge and experience (required).
- Knowledge of analytical and BI tools, including MS Excel, Tableau, and PowerBI.
- Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, and shell/bash, plus expertise in database technologies, ELT/ETL processes, REST APIs, data warehousing, and workflow management tools.
- Experience querying and maintaining relational databases (SQL Server, Postgres) and version controlling with GitHub.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies, cloud development platforms such as GCP, and cloud-native applications.
- Cursory understanding of healthcare terminology, including CPT, RVU, and charge terminology.
- Knowledge of revenue cycle systems and mapping logic within billing tables.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Management Information Systems, or Business Administration.
Work schedule and attendance
- Maintaining minimum attendance requirements is essential, including working all full-time regular hours and scheduled or emergency overtime.
- Full-time regular hours are Monday through Friday, with after-hours or weekends as required.
- This job classification does not include “light duty” work or allow unpredictable or unrestricted absences.
