Job Description

Join a collaborative data engineering team that designs and operationalizes complex data solutions to power AI, ML, and analytics across the enterprise. This onsite Data Engineer II (Tech Lead) role is based in Hartford, CT and offers a stable path for leadership, hands-on delivery, and continuous learning within a supportive culture.

Responsibilities

  • Build and operationalize complex data solutions, fix issues, apply transformations, and propose data cleansing and quality improvements.
  • Design intricate data architectures and data products.
  • Evaluate diverse data sources to determine value and applicability for analytics, guiding what data to include in processes.
  • Incorporate core data management practices, including governance, security, and quality.
  • Collaborate across teams to support delivery and educate end users on analytic environments and data products.
  • Analyze data and systems to identify defects or incidents and implement appropriate fixes.
  • Test data movement, transformation logic, and data components to ensure reliability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field or equivalent.
  • Eight years of related experience.
  • High proficiency with ETL tools (Abinitio, Databricks), AWS cloud platforms, programming languages (Python, SQL), and modern data engineering practices.
  • Ability to deliver work at a steady, predictable pace, release in small batches, and manage tradeoffs to meet commitments.
  • Demonstrated domain expertise and knowledge of current technical concepts and industry trends, with deep understanding of primary systems and familiarity with adjacent systems.
  • Strong problem solving to build enduring solutions and innovate in resolution approaches.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with teammates and business partners.
  • Ability to lead team members and foster a safe environment for growth and learning, with a proven track record of self motivation and tracking team efforts.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, related STEM field, or its equivalent in education and/or work experience.
  • 4 additional years of data engineering experience.
