Distribution Systems Test Engineer

System One is hiring a Distribution Systems Test Engineer to support electric distribution operations and testing across Texas on a contract basis.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute point-to-point testing of electric distribution and substation equipment.
• Schedule testing activities and collaborate with field crews and operational teams.
• Verify communication and functionality between field devices and control systems.
• Track, document, and report testing progress, results, and project status.
• Use Excel, PowerApps, and other tools to manage testing records and reporting.
• Coordinate with engineering, operations, and field personnel to resolve issues identified during testing.
• Support project implementation and system reliability initiatives.
• Coordinate testing schedules and logistics to support device validation activities.
• Execute and validate device testing activities.
• Generate reports and communicate status updates as testing milestones complete.
• Assist with troubleshooting and issue resolution as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field (preferred).
• 2-5 years of experience supporting electric utility, telecommunications, or related infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of electric distribution systems.
• Experience coordinating testing activities and tracking project progress.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
• Experience with SCADA systems.
• Knowledge of utility communication systems.
• Troubleshooting experience in electric utility or infrastructure environments.
• Experience using PowerApps or similar reporting platforms.
• Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
• Detail-oriented approach with strong documentation habits.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Team-oriented mindset and collaborative problem-solving.

Location and Work Arrangement

• Lubbock, TX (hybrid)
• Primarily office and control center environment
• Occasional field visits

Contract Details

• Job type: contract
• Compensation: USD 48 - 50 per hour
• Minimum experience: 2 years

Training and Onboarding
