Electrical Distribution Engineer

Samsung Electronics offers an onsite opportunity in Taylor, Texas for an Electrical Distribution Engineer who can oversee commissioning, startup, and qualification of new power distribution assets while keeping existing industrial infrastructure reliable, safe, and high performing. The role is structured for first shift, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with a salary range of USD 76,000 to 145,000 per year. A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering from an ABET-accredited program and at least four years of industrial electrical maintenance experience are required. Semiconductor fab experience is preferred, and a Professional Engineer license in Texas is a plus. This position blends hands-on field execution with rigorous documentation, standards compliance, and cross-functional coordination to deliver robust, fault-tolerant electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with design engineering, construction, operations, and maintenance teams to align requirements and schedules
• Lead pre-commissioning, functional testing, and energization of medium and low voltage switchgear, transformers, UPS, generators, and motor-control equipment
• Verify protection schemes with relays, circuit breakers, and electronic trip units meet design intent and industry standards (IEEE, IEC, NEMA)
• Perform detailed safety verifications before applying power, including lock-out/tag-out, arc-flash analysis, and grounding checks
• Ensure work adheres to applicable codes (NFPA 70E, NEC, IEC 61850, ANSI/IEEE) and internal procedures
• Produce commissioning reports, as-built drawings, punch lists, and close-out documentation
• Log deficiencies, develop corrective-action plans, and track resolutions in the project management system
• Interface newly commissioned assets with SCADA/EMS platforms; validate telemetry, alarms, and remote control functions
• Coordinate with automation engineers to ensure proper tag mapping and data integrity
• Perform fault diagnosis, performance validation, and corrective actions on new and legacy equipment
• Work schedule: 1st Shift, Mon-Fri, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Requirements

• Bachelor of Electrical or Electronics Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
• Minimum four years of electrical maintenance experience in an industrial setting; semiconductor fab experience is preferred
• Professional Engineer license issued or recognized by the State of Texas is a plus
• Working knowledge of IBC, IFC, and other codes and standards applicable to industrial power distribution system design and reliability
• Detailed understanding of industrial power distribution systems design, maintenance, and electrical power monitoring equipment
• Daily use of a Computerized Maintenance Management System to manage assets and maintenance schedules
• Working knowledge of OSHA General Industry and Construction standards
• Experience with Microsoft Excel for data analysis, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP data linking, and simple scripting
• Ability to work overtime or on non-scheduled days as required
