At United Refining Company in Warren, Pennsylvania, an Electrical Engineer is needed onsite to lead the design, support, and project management of the refineryβs electrical and instrumentation infrastructure. This role works closely with maintenance and operations to minimize downtime, providing engineering guidance across new and existing systems. It combines office design work with field coordination, ensuring power, control, and instrumentation networks meet refinery guidelines and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Design work for all new Electrical & Instrumentation projects.
- Project Management for all new Electrical & Instrumentation projects.
- AutoCAD electrical drawings for design work.
- Electrical bid packages design.
- Ordering of all electrical items and components.
- Management for electrical contractors and plant maintenance personnel.
- Provide electrical knowledge and support to existing electrical infrastructure at the refinery.
- Knowledge of high voltage electrical substations, AC motors and control circuits, lighting, and other power requirements to various electrical equipment.
- Design and installation of equipment with voltages ranging from 34,500 Volts to 120/240 Volts on the AC side.
- Instrumentation side voltages in the 12 to 24 DC ranges.
- Providing new design ideas.

- Field activities may include entry into confined spaces, navigating field equipment and piping, and ladder/stair access to platforms; PPE is required.

Position Purpose
Provide Electrical & Instrumentation engineering design, support, management, and implementation for all refinery electrical and instrumentation infrastructure, both new and existing. Offer engineering support to maintenance and operations to maintain electrical integrity and minimize downtime of equipment and daily operations.
Work Environment
Primarily office-based with regular engagement in shop or field activities. Periods of more than 40 hours per week, including weekends, may occur.
