Electrical Engineer, Lead
Job Description
A Lead Electrical Engineer onsite in Dahlgren, VA, drives the design and integration of embedded systems, RF receivers, and compact antennas to support Navy and national requirements.
Responsibilities
- Research, develop, test, and integrate custom embedded systems and specialized communications capabilities.
- Contribute to rapid engineering solutions for emergent non-conventional threats by translating high level requirements into designs that fuse microelectronics with innovative fabrication techniques.
- Complete the design and development of electrical circuits, RF receivers, and electrically-small antenna designs with minimal supervision.
- Engage in analog and digital circuit design, embedded microcontroller development, and compact antenna design and integration.
- Model circuits, perform schematic capture, PCB layout, and apply circuit fabrication techniques.
- Develop software to enable electronic designs.
- Present technical status and design decisions during reviews.
- Support integration and testing to ensure reliable functionality of developed products.
- Lead developmental and verification testing, including extensive electromagnetic and environmental testing for rapid response to Navy and national requirements.
- Collaborate with Project Leads to analyze and refine requirements, explore alternatives, and identify technical risks.
- Develop prototypes with technicians as needed to validate designs.
- Coordinate with mechanical engineers to integrate designs into customized mechanical packages.
- Document design solutions and adhere to configuration management processes.
Requirements
- Active Secret Clearance; ability to obtain Top Secret (Interim Top Secret required to start).
- 5+ years of experience in relevant electrical/engineering disciplines.
- Oral communications: clear, effective presentations to diverse audiences; active listening and clarification when needed.
- Written communications: clear, concise, organized writing with correct grammar and punctuation.
- Ability to meet deadlines under pressure; prioritize work and coordinate with others to achieve milestones.
- Teamwork: capable of functioning in multi-disciplinary teams to achieve objectives.

- Technical problem solving: identify complex problems, evaluate options, and implement solutions.
- Proven ability to lead a range of tasks and problems with minimal guidance from program management or technical leads.
- Analytical reasoning to weigh strengths and weaknesses of alternatives; effective negotiation to gain support for solutions.
- Knowledge of design, development, fabrication, and quality assurance of electrical and electronic systems for austere environments.
- Willingness to learn and apply innovative technologies within electrical/electronic engineering.
- Demonstrated expertise in analog/digital circuit design, embedded microcontroller design, and compact antenna design and integration.
- Ability to perform, document, and defend modeling and analysis.
- Experience with test methodologies, diagnostic equipment, and software used to inspect, test, analyze, and resolve electrical designs.
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering with demonstrated design experience.
- Current active Secret clearance; ability to obtain Top Secret; Interim Top Secret required to start.

Pay Transparency Statement
The salary range for this position is USD 100,000.00/Yr. to USD 160,000.00/Yr. Actual compensation is determined based on factors permitted by law. Benefits include healthcare, paid leave, retirement plans, insurance programs, and education and training assistance.
