Job Description

Build confidence in cybersecurity for embedded controllers used in hydraulic mobile valve systems. This hybrid role in Plymouth, MN (55411) focuses on independently verifying and validating security enhancements, from secure boot and firmware authentication to low-level hardware checks and automated regression testing.

Compensation: From $65.00 per hour. You will work with a technical stack spanning Python, Embedded C, lab debug tools, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.

What you’ll do

  • Design and execute test plans to independently verify and validate CyberSecurity enhancements on hydraulic mobile valve embedded controllers.
  • Assess secure boot architectures, firmware authentication mechanisms, access control models, and secure over-the-air or in-field update processes.
  • Produce detailed verification artifacts including test plans, test cases, trace matrices, and documented evidence supporting compliance with the European Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) and related regulatory frameworks.
  • Perform low-level verification using JTAG debuggers, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers, including fault injection and HIL testing directly on the target hardware.
  • Develop and maintain automated Python test scripts for security regression testing, hardware interfacing, and parsing test output.
  • Conduct targeted source code reviews and static analysis on low-level Embedded C firmware to reduce risk from potential vulnerabilities.

What you bring

  • 5+ years of professional experience in embedded software verification, test engineering, or embedded security validation.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Hands-on experience developing or testing firmware on Texas Instruments C2000 microcontrollers, specifically TMS320F2809 or similar TI DSP/MCU architectures.
  • In-depth understanding of secure boot implementations, cryptographic signature verification, key management, access control, and secure firmware flashing.
  • Practical knowledge of regulatory cybersecurity frameworks, including generating technical evidence for the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), IEC 62443, or ETSI EN 303 645.
  • Strong skills in Embedded C (firmware review) and Python (test automation).
  • Proven expertise using JTAG debuggers, in-circuit emulators, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
