Embedded Software Engineer
Job Description
Mainstream Engineering is hiring Embedded Software Engineers to build reliable, deterministic embedded software for thermal control and energy conversion products. This onsite role in Rockledge, FL supports work across embedded programming, system architecture, testing, motor control, and power electronics controls, with opportunities to contribute to sub-system design that impacts real hardware.
What you’ll work on
- Design and implement reliable, deterministic embedded software using C/C++
- Create clear software requirements and ensure bidirectional traceability between system requirements, code, and test cases
- Design and execute functional and/or automated testing to demonstrate compliance with software requirements
- Support board bring-up, interface with sensors and actuators, and communicate using common protocols such as CAN, SPI, and UART
- Debug hardware and software, using standard instrumentation such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
- Maintain version control and configuration management baselines aligned with applicable standards
What you bring
- B.S. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science with a minimum GPA of 3.3 (M.S. or PhD is a plus)
- 3 years minimum experience developing embedded software or controls, with strong proficiency in embedded C/C++
- Experience writing and following software and system requirements, including requirements traceability
- Ability to debug software and use standard hardware debugging tools (for example, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers)
- United States Citizenship required due to US Government ITAR restrictions
Preferred qualifications
- Experience developing and following DO-178 documentation and processes
- Experience with TI C2000 or STM32 microcontroller family
- Additional programming languages such as C#, Python, or assembly, plus experience related to GUI design
- Understanding of digital control algorithms, digital filters, and general control of power electronics systems
Technology focus: C/C++, CAN, SPI, UART, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers.
