Job Description

Join Continental Electronics Corporation in Richardson, TX for an onsite Embedded Software Engineer role that bridges software and hardware to build system control and monitoring capabilities. Pay: $115,000.00 - $133,000.00 per year

Responsibilities

  • Develop software solutions by partnering with users, studying system flow, data usage, and existing work processes
  • Use the software development lifecycle to anticipate problem areas and reduce risk across delivery
  • Determine operational feasibility by evaluating problem definitions, requirements, and proposed solution approaches
  • Document and demonstrate solutions through flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, clear code comments, and readable code
  • Stay current on state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment by reading professional publications and maintaining professional networks
  • Provide advice and coaching and participate in product and system design reviews
  • Uphold core values of Integrity, Innovation, Accountability, and Teamwork and demonstrate behavior consistent with the company’s Code of Ethics and Conduct
  • Report quality problems or defects to a manager or senior leadership so corrective action can be implemented and recurrence avoided
  • Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet business needs

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a DoD issued Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a similar technical discipline
  • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer, with demonstrated success developing a variety of software systems and/or control and monitoring applications using custom register interfaces and TCP protocols as part of the overall application architecture
  • Experience developing and troubleshooting complex software systems running in mixed environments, including Linux, Unix, and/or Windows across desktop, server, tablet, and mobile systems, plus TCP/IP debugging with ICDs
  • Experience configuring and using one or more of: Linux, C/C++, TCP/IP networking, and web development using JavaScript, Node.js, and GTK+3.x (or similar)
  • Hands-on experience working with lower-level communication protocols, high power, lab/test equipment, schematics, and board-level components
  • Occasional international travel required, up to 12 weeks per year

  • Experience writing embedded / Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT) globally distributed applications
  • UI and human-computer interaction design using GLADE, React, Ignition, or something similar
  • Experience modifying, designing, developing, and debugging device drivers for I2C, SPI, UART, USB, PCIe, GPIO
  • Script tools: Python, BASH, Lua, CSH, Perl, TCL/TK
  • Virtualization and simulation workflows using Git, SVN, Jira, Buildroot, OpenEmbedded
  • Automated tests and optimizing builds
  • Nice to have prior RF (radio frequency) experience
