Engineering Product Manager – Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

Responsibilities

• Define and steer the product direction for BESS solutions, informed by customer needs, market signals, application fit, and strategic priorities.
• Convert customer insights and market inputs into clear product requirements, technical specifications, and direction for internal teams.
• Lead BESS related product definition, including system architecture, performance targets, standard configurations, and feature prioritization.
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and commercial teams to ensure products are technically sound, deliverable, and competitive.
• Support technical positioning for opportunities, including proposals, RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, and technical presentations.
• Assess application requirements and customer requests to confirm alignment with product capabilities, standards, and commercial intent.
• Maintain and evolve product roadmaps in response to technology trends, customer feedback, competitive dynamics, and internal strategy.
• Incorporate field experience, commissioning feedback, and deployment considerations into ongoing product improvements.
• Participate in product, technical, and commercial reviews to support launch readiness and lifecycle decisions.
• Coordinate with customers, suppliers, and external stakeholders to support solution development and market relevance.
• Improve product competitiveness through standardization, performance, manufacturability, and better technical-market fit.
• Ensure compliance alignment with applicable technical and safety standards for energy storage and power systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems, Systems Engineering, or related technical field.
• 10+ years of experience in engineering, applications engineering, systems engineering, product management, or technical solution development.
• 3+ years of direct experience in battery energy storage, BESS, microgrid, hybrid power, distributed energy, power systems, or related power conversion/integration applications.
• Strong understanding of BESS architecture, system components, and integration principles.
• Experience translating customer or market requirements into product requirements, technical specifications, or engineering direction.
• Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, commercial, and operations teams.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to support customer-facing technical discussions.
