Job Description

The Engineering Tech Support – Level 1 role within Northrop Grumman's Space Sector is a hands-on, onsite position based in Dulles, Virginia. This role provides technical support for the integration and testing of spacecraft components, operates on a 9/80 schedule, and may require travel up to 25 percent. DoD Top-Secret clearance eligibility is considered for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret intricate work instructions and engineering documentation.
  • Assemble electromechanical and electronic components and assemblies.
  • Assist in integrating critical spaceflight hardware with strict attention to detail, safety, and quality.
  • Fully comply with ISO processes, cleanroom protocols, hazardous material handling requirements, and operational procedures.
  • Demonstrate general technical knowledge of mechanical assemblies and proficiency with common hand tools and complex measuring devices.
  • Collaborate daily with work center management, engineers, and mechanical leads to report progress and resolve technical issues.
  • Work effectively within a diverse team, accepting feedback from Safety and Quality personnel.
  • Show strong organizational abilities, adaptability, precision, and a proactive approach aligned with mission success.
  • Maintain flexibility for off-shift work, weekends, overtime, and travel up to 25 percent for launch campaign support.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; 0 years of additional education or related experience required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Top-Secret security clearance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Knowledge of electrical measurements (AC/DC, resistance) and mechanical troubleshooting techniques.
  • Understanding of clean room operations and spacecraft handling protocols.
  • Ability to lift and position objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions such as standing, bending, squatting, leaning, and working with tool tethers.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including second and third shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.

  • Salary: Primary Level Salary Range: $47,200.00 - $78,600.00
