Job Description

Blue Origin seeks an Engines Manufacturing Engineer at all levels to design and deploy robust engine manufacturing systems in Huntsville, AL, ensuring quality control and optimizing supply chain logistics for space propulsion production.

Responsibilities

  • Support design for manufacturability, design for assembly, and design for test to help deliver reliable space propulsion vehicles.
  • Convert engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes aligned with Blue Origin’s mission.
  • Work closely with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams to accelerate space vehicle fabrication.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans.
  • Assess and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods such as precision machining, welding, brazing, additive manufacturing, and advanced assembly.
  • Lead root cause analysis for process or product non-conformances and implement corrective actions to improve reliability and performance.
  • Ensure all work complies with quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001) to support a safe, sustainable space program.
  • Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines and equipment.
  • Leverage emerging AI technologies alongside traditional manufacturing tools to optimize processes, reduce cycle times, and improve first-pass quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (or related field) from an accredited university.
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering corresponding to: 0-3 years Level 1 Manufacturing Engineer, 3+ years Level 2 Manufacturing Engineer, 5+ years Level 3 Manufacturing Engineer, 8+ years Sr Manufacturing Engineer.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience creating English-language work instructions.
  • Ability to work second shift with flexibility to adjust shifts as needed; extended hours may be required.

  • Shifts: A (Mon-Fri, 7am-4pm), B (Mon-Fri, 2pm-10:30pm), C (Fri-Sun, 6am-6:30pm), D (Fri-Sun, 6pm-6:30am).
  • Location: Huntsville, AL.
  • Relocation: Available.

Team Focus & Domain Expertise

The Engines manufacturing team delivers propulsion solutions for internal programs and external customers. The Huntsville Engine Factory produces BE-4 and BE-3U engines for the New Glenn vehicle, leveraging advanced machining and fabrication assets to build and test engines designed for reliable performance in demanding environments. The team continuously strives to improve cost, throughput, and quality.
