Facilities Engineer I
Job Description
Rochester Electronics invites applications for a Facilities Engineer I to join the on-site team in Newburyport, MA. This role focuses on planning, implementing, and maintaining building systems and equipment, while evaluating operational processes, resource use, energy consumption, and safety practices. The position offers a yearly salary range of $76,640 to $84,060 and may require occasional after-hours work.
Responsibilities
- Assist in collecting and evaluating data, drawings, and reports as directed.
- Assess facility and equipment needs and options to determine cost-effective actions.
- Apply standard practices to estimate costs and present recommended changes to the Manager.
- Help design and oversee the implementation of facility expansion, layouts, systems, and quality controls.
- Support operating systems and infrastructure to improve efficiency.
- Aid in developing processing plans and optimizing how resources are allocated.
- Participate in planning and coordinating infrastructure and equipment maintenance projects, timelines, and activities per Rochester specifications.
- Coordinate and oversee contractors performing maintenance tasks.
- Monitor compliance with applicable regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards; report anomalies to the Director and prepare required compliance documentation for facilities teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering.
- 0–2 years of demonstrated experience as a facilities engineer or in a similar role.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, project management software, and MS Office (with strong emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint) is highly preferred.
- Ability to generate and edit architectural and mechanical drawings.
- Knowledge of building processes and construction principles in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
- Excellent analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and detail.
- Familiarity with relevant regulations and building codes.
- Strong oral and written communication abilities.
- Proven problem-solving, troubleshooting, multitasking, and creative solution development capabilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels.
- Demonstrated project management experience to achieve targets and complete projects.
- Working knowledge of Excel and reporting tools to collect data and develop metrics.
