Job Description
This onsite Lab Test Engineer II role in Lenexa, KS offers USD 75,000 - 85,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and promote safe practice standards across the laboratory and manufacturing areas, adhering to established health and safety programs.
- Plan and execute hands-on tests autonomously, covering setup, troubleshooting, teardown, and comprehensive documentation.
- Evaluate test results with engineering judgment, performing data interpretation, trend analysis, and root-cause investigations, and communicate findings clearly.
- Select and employ test hardware, data acquisition systems, and instrumentation to support verification and development testing.
- Develop and refine test methods, procedures, fixtures, and standards for both mechanical and electrical tests.
- Define test requirements and verification strategies to confirm performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
- Lead lab audits, assist with regulatory inspections, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Manage laboratory equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, vendor coordination, upgrades, and replacement planning.
- Improve lab organization, efficiency, and cleanliness using 5S principles and standardized work practices.
- Identify and implement practical improvements to raise test quality, throughput, safety, and reliability.
- Provide hands-on technical support to engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve product and process issues and prevent recurrence.
- Utilize visual project management methods to plan and complete testing on schedule.
- Coordinate testing activities with product development, research and development, sustaining engineering, and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Support productivity gains in testing processes, focusing on on-time deliverables, reduced lead times, and backlog management.
- Develop project plans and schedules, delivering work in accordance with the plan.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar test engineering, manufacturing, or lab-based role, with demonstrated ability to independently execute and analyze test work.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD (prefer SolidWorks), Microsoft Office, and common engineering data analysis tools; experience with Minitab is preferred.
- Experience with data acquisition systems, measurement equipment, and instrumentation software used to support lab testing and analysis.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
