Job Description

General Dynamics Mission Systems, Inc. is seeking a Lead Principal Engineer to support the Torpedo Systems Group on the MK48 program. This flex/on-site role is based in Canonsburg, PA and focuses on leading end-to-end technical execution, from system architecture to hardware design and risk-informed delivery.

In this position, you will help shape overall system architecture, ensure technical and program requirements are met, and identify future opportunities across Torpedo Programs. You will also provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary engineering efforts involving digital, analog, power, mechanical, and test disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and optimize systems that integrate digital, analog, and mechanical components for DC/AC and DC/DC applications.
  • Lead and mentor circuit design work, covering integration, verification, modeling, and simulation, while maintaining efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Manage high-risk projects, communicate risks and mitigation strategies, and help ensure quality and timeliness.
  • Perform root cause analysis for new and existing products and drive technical improvements.
  • Participate in design reviews, trade studies, and proposals, while staying current on semiconductor processors, SoCs, and FPGA architectures.

What You Bring

  • Experience with Gigahertz microprocessors, FPGA, CPLD, memory technologies, and high-speed serial links (for example, 5+ Gbps).
  • Strong knowledge of digital, analog, and power electronic circuits, along with hands-on experience using test equipment such as scopes, power sources, and probes.
  • Familiarity with Mentor Graphics, OrCAD PSPICE, LT Spice, Mathcad, Microsoft Office, and Visio.
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple projects, apply leadership principles (including Earned Value and CAM), and communicate technical results effectively.
  • Experience designing and testing complex electronics assemblies that integrate into mechanical systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or a related Science, Engineering, Technology, or Mathematics field).
  • 10+ years of job-related experience, or a Master’s degree plus 8 years of job-related experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred and must be obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire.
  • Selected applicants will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Salary

  • USD 180,000 - 200,000 per year
