Maintenance Engineer / Houseperson

Join Rebel Hotel Company for an onsite Maintenance Engineer and Houseperson role in Ontario, California. This position blends hands-on facility maintenance with guest service in a dynamic hotel environment. You will operate, maintain and repair a range of equipment, participate in preventative maintenance, and handle guest requests and work orders. The role spans carpentry, painting and plumbing tasks across guest rooms, kitchens, laundry areas, meeting spaces, the pool and more. It emphasizes trust, responsibility and professional judgment, with opportunities to interact with guests and colleagues in a respectful, service-oriented setting. You will access back-of-house areas and, at times, sensitive information, underscoring the importance of reliability and safe practices. The role also includes safe driving for company business as part of daily duties.

Responsibilities

• Assist with operating, maintaining and repairing equipment.
• Change out light bulbs and perform preventative maintenance in guest rooms, including vinyl repair, touch up paint, minor furniture repair, tub caulking and tile repairs.
• Complete preventative maintenance for ice machines, refrigerators, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, HVAC, guestrooms, meeting rooms, the swimming pool and hot tub.
• Perform plumbing repairs, laundry equipment repairs, and preventative maintenance on exhaust fans and related supply; monitor energy conservation; repair vacuum cleaners and other small equipment on request.
• Immediately follow up on alarms to determine location and cause, assess emergency status and report findings to the Front Desk.
• Performs other tasks as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
• Access back of house areas of the hotel and sensitive information.
• Interact with guests and colleagues, occasionally with unsupervised contact.
• Access and control to sensitive areas in the hotel premises, including the hotel safe, master keys and/or guestrooms, storage and liquor room, and secured file cabinets.
• Drive safely on behalf of the company for business reasons.
• Maintain a high level of trust and responsibility.
• Represent the company with a good reputation and sound judgment.
