Power Systems Electrical Engineer
Job Description
Qualdoc is seeking a hands-on Power Systems Electrical Engineer to design, develop, and implement electrical systems used in power distribution and control applications. This onsite role in Henrico County, VA collaborates with engineering, production, and project teams to bring concepts from idea to completion, with a compensation target of USD 90,000 per year.
Position Summary
An established industrial organization is hiring a Power Systems Electrical Engineer to support the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems used in power distribution and control applications. This is a hands-on role that works closely with engineering, production, and project teams to bring concepts through to completion.
Responsibilities
- Create and develop electrical system designs for control and power distribution applications
- Produce schematics, technical documentation, and bills of materials
- Contribute to new product initiatives and enhance existing electrical systems
- Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and compliance requirements
- Provide technical support to manufacturing and operations teams
- Partner with cross-functional teams throughout design, build, and production phases
- Track progress and participate in project coordination efforts
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5 to 7+ years of experience in electrical engineering roles
- Strong understanding of industrial power systems including 3-phase and 480V configurations (Delta and Wye)
- Experience with circuit protection, including breaker sizing and motor protection
- Hands-on experience with Siemens PLC platforms (S7, TIA Portal, Step 7, ladder logic)
- Knowledge of control systems, including relay logic and digital/analog I/O
- Proficiency using AutoCAD Electrical in a practical setting
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
- Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain a security clearance
