Principal Software Engineer
Job Description
NFI Industries is hiring a Principal Software Engineer (onsite) in Trenton, NJ to build and evolve its Digital Twin capabilities and guide key engineering decisions.
Responsibilities
- Lead maintenance for the Digital Twin and related technologies
- Drive interoperability across the Digital Twin and connected data
- Report on team and project performance KPIs
- Create and maintain flowcharts, layouts, and documentation to capture requirements and solutions
- Develop and update quarterly roadmaps reviewed with internal and customer leadership
- Organize and participate in project meetings covering scope, requirements, design, planning, and status
- Apply best practices across analysis, design, coding, testing, upgrades, and production control to develop and support application software on schedule
- Deploy programs and evaluate user feedback
- Ensure software is kept current with latest features
- Write well-designed, testable code
- Develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures
- Integrate software components into a fully functional software system
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Related Engineering
- 7+ years experience in a corporate engineering or software development environment
- Well-rounded experience planning and implementing engineering, analytics, and relationship development
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously
- Capability to ramp up quickly in a busy, fast-moving atmosphere
- Strong experience with Python and SQL; proficiency with software engineering tools
- Experience with test-driven development
- Ability to conduct software reviews and provide status updates with leadership
- Ability to run project meetings focused on requirements and design

Preferred Requirements
- 10+ years experience in a corporate engineering or Supply Chain consulting environment
- Sound knowledge of Supply Chain Engineering, Software Engineering, Data and Platforms Engineering
- Experience with Supply Chain modeling platforms such as Supply Chain Guru, Llama.ai, NextMV, Gains, Sophus, Starboard, Optilogic, or TMOD
- Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments
- Experience with Go / Golang
- Experience with ML algorithms, optimization algorithms, and building AI-native apps / MCP
