Production Test Engineer

TRUMPF is hiring a Production Test Engineer to support the manufacturing of diode laser devices in Cranbury, NJ. In this onsite role, you will own testing and burn-in activities while driving improvements across production equipment, processes, and measurement execution.

You will sustain and develop production test processes, troubleshoot complex equipment and process issues, and lead yield, cost, and cycle-time initiatives. The position also involves mentoring engineers and engineering technicians and communicating results to project stakeholders.

What you’ll do

• Test and perform burn-in of diode laser devices.
• Own multiple high-complexity production processes and tools, including process control/sustaining of existing processes.
• Plan, track, and complete projects on time, with results that are critical to major project completion.
• Develop and implement solutions to unique production problems.
• Lead yield improvement and cost reduction projects, including 4D/8Ds.
• Implement initiatives that improve cost and cycle time.
• Improve tool uptime and initiate and drive DOEs to completion.
• Drive R&D projects using process and equipment expertise.
• Lead consistent, complex troubleshooting of equipment and process issues, including conflict resolution with minimal supervision.
• Mentor, coach, and train lower level engineers and engineering technicians.
• Drive equipment upgrades with vendor support.
• Use and ensure measurement results and equipment availability using tools such as power meters, integrating spheres, current sources, voltage measurements, spectrum analyzers, cameras, and other electrical and optical measurement tools.
• Support maintenance for troubleshooting and support development of new processes.
• Communicate clearly by presenting results to the team and management.

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or Physics.
• 5+ years hands-on experience testing diode lasers and laser systems.
• Prior experience in an engineering support role for manufacturing of laser products is desired.
• Extensive experience with SAS JMP, Minitab, or other statistical software packages.

Pay & benefits

Pay range: USD 103,900 - 126,500 per year.
