Job Description

The Project Engineer role in Houston, TX onsite with Air Liquide Global E&C Solutions focuses on leading and coordinating design and technical activities, ensuring deliverables meet contractual requirements and applicable standards.

Responsibilities

  • Promote safety culture and uphold safety standards across the organization.
  • Coordinate assigned engineering resources with local and remote international team members and peers.
  • Foster collaboration and alignment among disciplines and engineering contractors.
  • Lead weekly meetings with engineering stakeholders, capture minutes, and track action items.
  • Apply an interdisciplinary mindset across Civil, Structural, Mechanical (static and rotating), Piping, Process, Process Control, Systems, Electrical and Instrumentation engineering.
  • Ensure timely delivery of engineering deliverables per the project schedule; inform the project scheduler and PM of status, delay risks and recovery plans; conduct weekly expediting across disciplines.
  • Verify deliverables and Basis of Design comply with E&C Global standards and US/local codes.
  • Support the Proposal team and review the Basis of Design.
  • Prepare the Technical Requisition Summary for procurement and guide technical clarifications with material and equipment suppliers.
  • Assist the procurement team in expediting Vendor Documentation Records and provide technical support during manufacturing.
  • Maintain a log of pending actions and open topics from minutes; implement document control practices and tools (Alair, Google Drive) for technical documents.
  • Maintain a record of engineering capitalization points.
  • Ensure adherence to the project execution plan and assist in updating the plan as needed.
  • Identify, track and mitigate post signature changes; align on approvals and accelerate resolution.
  • Support technical Design Reviews and facilitate project gate reviews per Air Liquide standards, including invitations, planning and minutes.
  • Interface with Design Authorities and the Overall Design Authority.
  • Support fabrication and construction by coordinating resolution of technical issues.
  • Apply a collaborative change management approach with commercial awareness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required; Chemical or Mechanical focus preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years in a Project Engineering role within related industrial design or operations.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to travel to multiple job sites on short notice.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Foundational knowledge of engineering across disciplines and processes.
  • Experience in project management and customer relationship management.
  • Site experience in construction or commissioning.
  • Second language proficiency in French or German is a plus.
  • PMI/PMP project management certification preferred.

Work Conditions

  • Office environment with occasional business trips.
