Project Engineer
Job Description
Project Engineer is a hybrid role based in Elgin, IL focused on coordinating customized cable assembly projects from technical definition through production readiness.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the local technical and economic contact for projects, managing project realization with technical engineering
- Support new solution development with design and manufacturing considerations
- Drive introduction of new product designs into production
- Collaborate across departments and regions with project stakeholders
- Interpret and apply customer specifications for customized solutions
- Understand customer drawings and technical specifications
- Prepare engineering documentation for project needs
- Create customer quotations and proposals in line with company policy
- Manage customized project execution using technical engineering and calculations based on the HARTING product portfolio, auxiliary products, and production capacities
- Partner with the Global Business Unit for HARTING Custom Solutions (cable assembly) to develop fit-for-purpose solutions with design for manufacturing considerations
- Work with relevant regional departments and the local subsidiary to support product design, development, and market introduction of HARTING Custom Solutions
- Support preparation of designs and engineering specifications for supply chain/purchasing and for customer presentations
- Act as a local contact point for technical and economical topics across local, regional, and global counterparts
- Travel up to 10%
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in Engineering: Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
- Prior experience with cable harnesses, cable assemblies, or wire harnesses
- 3+ years of experience in a relevant field

Compensation
- Base salary: USD 90,000 - 120,000 per year (commensurate with experience; subject to change dependent on physical location)
- Bonus: eligible for a 5% discretionary annual bonus
