Project Engineer II - Electronics
Job Description
EI Microcircuits in Mankato, MN is seeking a Project Engineer II - Electronics to shepherd customer projects from concept through transition into manufacturing. This onsite role centers on design-for-manufacturability reviews, project planning, and ongoing engineering support to improve product design, processes, quality, and productivity. A bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial or Quality Engineering and a minimum of three years of experience are required, with a salary range of USD 75,000 to 90,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Assess and manage design requirements necessary to transition a customer’s product into EI manufacturing
- Perform design-for-manufacturability (DFM) analyses on assigned projects and collaborate with customers to reach optimal resolutions
- Provide design support to customers related to printed circuit board design and assembly
- Offer continued engineering support for existing products produced at EI Microcircuits
- Develop and implement engineering change orders (ECOs) for existing products
- Create and update Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Define, verify, and release component and assembly drawings according to customer and EI requirements
- Develop and document product procedures, including test and packaging/shipment requirements
- Work independently on both new and existing projects
- Produce engineering documentation to support production of electronic products

- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager
Requirements
- Collaborative team player who thrives in team environments and shares in success
- Strong knowledge of PCB design, electronic and mechanical components, and assembly practices
- Ability to read and interpret engineering documents such as drawings, specifications, and procedures
- Experience with CAD software – PCB layout or Gerber Viewer programs and/or SolidWorks is preferred
- Excellent technical, communications, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize workload
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Self-starter capable of working independently or with a team as needed
- Ability to interface with a customer’s team respectfully and effectively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Must be able to read, write, comprehend and communicate effectively in English
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check
- Must follow all EI Microcircuits policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook
- Complete all orientation and training as required by policy
