Job Description

Software Engineer II (E2) role supporting the LE Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) team for the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) program.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, debug, and document software across the development lifecycle
  • Investigate issues and improve reliability and maintainability of systems
  • Apply experience to technical decisions, design/review activities, and collaborative problem-solving
  • Provide mentorship to junior or new staff on assigned projects
  • Plan, conduct, and coordinate software development activities
  • Develop and document software solutions using logical and mathematical approaches for business and mission needs via data processing equipment
  • Use appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle
  • Apply knowledge of computer hardware and software to translate subject matter for program implementation, including information gathered from system users
  • Correct program errors, prepare operating instructions, compile program development documentation, and analyze system capabilities (intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls)
  • Ensure software standards are met

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science (or related technical discipline) from an accredited college, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Hands-on programming experience with one or more core languages such as C/C++, Python, Java, LabVIEW, or TestStand
  • Proven experience working in project teams and collaborative software development efforts
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance; US Citizenship required
  • US citizenship required to obtain a DoD security clearance

Desired Skills

  • Background or familiarity with aerospace systems, defense technologies, or working with government/military clients
  • Familiarity with Agile frameworks and platform management environments such as JIRA, Git, and Confluence
  • Advanced on-site diagnostics, systems testing architecture, and hardware/software integration testing
  • Knowledge of DevOps principles, automated test script design, or Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) concepts
  • Knowledge of the end-to-end product lifecycle from software development through deployment and eventual retirement
  • Comfort using issue tracking tools and managing system troubleshooting workflows (JIRA, EPDM, ClearQuest, etc.)
  • Proficiency in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice

Work Location & Schedule

  • Onsite role in Cape Canaveral, FL (does not support teleworking)
  • Live near Cape Canaveral Space Force Station offsite location
  • Work a flexible 9x80 schedule in the office full-time

Compensation

  • Full-Time Salary Range: $81,100 - $150,500 per year
  • Pay range reflects factors including scope/responsibilities, experience, education/training, key skills, and market/business considerations
