About the Role
KEA is seeking an Engine Remanufacturing Engineer to guide the technical and engineering aspects of Kubota's remanufacturing program. The role centers on refining remanufacturing processes, ensuring product quality, and delivering technical solutions that improve efficiency and sustainability. This full-time position is based in Lincolnshire, IL, just north of Chicago, and shifts to a hybrid work arrangement after the first 30 days. The salary ranges from $89,000 to $105,000, depending on experience. Key Responsibilities
- Improve remanufacturing processes for engines and components to enhance quality, cost effectiveness, and efficiency.
- Conduct technical evaluations of potential remanufactured products, including core condition assessments.
- Develop remanufacturing specifications, Bills of Materials, and core acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate with core collection teams to maintain adequate core inventory levels.
- Design and implement testing procedures to ensure remanufactured products meet OEM standards.
- Support procurement and production teams in resolving technical issues and sourcing components.
- Create ISO 9001 documentation including work instructions and process flows.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Provide technical training and cross-functional support across engineering, operations, and supplier teams.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality regulations.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of diesel and gas engines and their component systems.
- Proficiency with CAD and ability to interpret 2D engineering drawings.
- Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and tolerance stack analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving and project management skills.
- Familiarity with ISO standards and environmental regulations.
- Hands-on manufacturing experience (CNC, welding, etc.) preferred.
- Microsoft Office proficiency; Power BI experience is a plus.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required, with a Master’s degree preferred. Candidates should have at least 3+ years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, or remanufacturing.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Office and engine test lab environment with exposure to noise, vibration, and mechanical equipment. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform occasional bending, reaching, and standing. PPE including eye/ear protection and steel-toed shoes required in designated areas. Periodic travel by car or air.
